Nina Dobrev In Elie Saab – 2012 People’s Choice Awards

Nina Dobrev was nominated for her hit television show ‘The Vampire Diaries’ at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards this evening.

Her Elie Saab Spring 2012 dress with lace sleeves was yet another sexy, chic sophisticated look for the young actress.

She opted to switch things up on this occasion, going for pin-straight hair instead of waves with smoky eye makeup.

The Kelly green dress truly pops against Nina’s long dark hair. This particular shade was a popular choice for awards’ season last year, so it will be interesting to see if the trend repeats itself this year.

Nude sandals were paired with a fun circular Lauren Merkin clutch to complete the look.

The Revolution Will Be…Blue?

“It’s a blue revolution!” exclaimed Lydia Fenet of Christie’s while walking the indigo carpet in an aqua-hued Rachel Roy frock at last night’s screening of La Revolution Bleue—sponsored, thematically enough, by La Mer and Oceana. The documentary, which chronicles the French artist Yves Klein’s work and creation of the painting FC 1 (Fire-Color 1), lured Dr. Lisa Airan, Anh Duong, and Susan Rockefeller to the Paris Theatre, all eager to see the story behind the controversial piece, which involved nude models and gas burners. (On May 8, the oeuvre will be listed at Christie’s Post War & Contemporary Evening Sale, where it’s expected to fetch over $30 million dollars—a record for the monochromatic master.)“As an artist, to have your name forever associated with a color is very powerful,” Duong told Style.com. “Like Schiaparelli pink, it’s as if Klein invented blue.” Before the screening, host January Jones (in Mary Katrantzou, with a hint of blue eyeliner) talked nursing and baby clothes. “I don’t know if it’s because he’s a boy but Xander responds to blue really well,” she said of her newborn son. The new mom has been painting the town, er, blue, hitting an array of parties in the Big Apple this week. As for her proclivity toward fine art? “I’d love to be a collector, but it’s an extravagant thing,” the Mad Men actress mused. “Fashion is more affordable.” Her wardrobe essentials? “Jeans and a good white men’s shirt.”—Nicole Berrie

fashion diary: fashion east founder lulu kennedy

Sunday, September 14Wake up at 5 a.m. with a list of stuff to do already racing through my mind. Can’t get back to sleep…ugh! It’s a blazing hot day, so I put on a David David jewel-colored silk tee, pegged trousers, and my trusty old Alaïa snakeskin sandals. I sling a party outfit for later into my Kim Jones backpack and head off to the office. There, I load up on caffeine and tackle the e-mail mountain. My amazing assistant arrives with breakfast (I keep forgetting to eat) and we make a priority list, send interns to hand-deliver invites to VIPs (yep, they’re still requesting tickets to Fashion East this close to the show), and type up the credits sheet—there are so many lovely people to thank. My back’s killing me, so I nip round the corner for a pummeling massage at Cowshed spa at Shoreditch House. It’s bliss. I doze off as soon as I lie down.

Can’t sleep for long, though. Rush off to Topshop Unique’s show in the jeep. I listen to a selection of banging rave tunes from 1991 on the way and decide I’m going play them at my show…ha! Topshop’s show is real fun, bump into loads of people I haven’t seen in ages, have a right old gossip. Then I go check out Martine Rose, a new menswear designer I’m really into. Her presentation of paisley shirts at Blacks members’ club is stunning, and so is she in her vintage red Comme outfit—fashion envy!

Stuck in major traffic on the way to Gareth Pugh’s party. I change into a Louise Gray dress in the back of the cab, then spend the rest of the time on the phone with the production crew. Have a well-needed drink and giggle with Gareth at the Moët room—I love the blinding light installation he’s made. He tells me my new perfume (Carnal Flower) smells of holidays; I think it smells of cigarettes. Lovely Hanna Hanra (i-D magazine’s beauty editor) intervenes and tells us we’re both wrong. Later, at Bistrotheque for Charles Anastase’s after-party, I find myself talking about the seating plan for Fashion East to my colleague Richard Sloan. He rolls his eyes, tells me to shut up, and hands me a drink. Quite right.

Monday, September 15Oversleep the alarm. Soooo exhausted that no amount of eyedrops or caffeine can help me now. Call in on Louise Gray to see how her collection’s coming on. It all looks gorgeous. I get so carried away listening to her show music and dancing round the studio that by the time I leave, I find I have a parking ticket. Call in on Natascha Stolle to see how her model casting is going. Her unbelievably glamorous stylist Fran Burns lets me borrow a killer crocodile-tiled jumper, which I bung on over my Marios dress, then race over to his show just in time. I sit next to Jeanette (how fab); we fancy ourselves in the long slinky dresses with bronze rope belts or maybe the rainbow jumpsuit. Whizz backstage to give Marios a hug in between his interviews with Suzy Menkes and Tim Blanks. Back to the office for more problem solving—a designer’s having trouble with shoes. A general air of panic is descending, which I laugh off.

I’m now running too late to catch Maia Norman (Damien Hirst’s missus), who’s previewing her Mother of Pearl collection at Claridge’s. How annoying. Hair is looking decidedly ropey but no time for a blow-dry. Instead, I throw on my favorite Louise Gray cocktail dress and some eyeliner and race off to 10 Downing Street…the prime minister’s wife is throwing a bit of a do! It’s very grand but dead normal at the same time—Naomi Campbell looking scarily flawless in the pap’s flashbulbs, juxtaposed with bowls of crisps and the same old-fashioned carpet my gran has in her house. Jonathan (Saunders), Roksanda (Ilincic), and I get the giggles running round corridors we’re not supposed to and have an impromptu photo shoot in the ladies loo which we decide looks “very Juergen.” We grab a quick bit and a fierce martini at Quaglino’s, which is also my show venue—I’m in love with its nineties opulence. Am so excited my show is going to be here in two days’ time I can barely eat.

Can’t get hold of my lovely friend Richard Nicoll. It’s his birthday, we’ll have to celebrate once this week’s done. At 11 p.m. one of my menswear designers, Christopher Shannon, calls me; sounds like he’s stressing so I haul myself round his studio though barely able to keep my eyes open. Go nuts for everything he’s made, try it all on in a frenzy, and coo over the hot boy model cards pinned to the wall. He gives me a very glam tracksuit top with gold zips1yay! Home at last, I look at the stack of dirty dishes and clothes all over the floor in disdain, and pass out.

Leona Lewis Bares Her Midriff 3 Times In One Week

Do you remember the time when Leona Lewis wore corset belts for every possible occasion?

Well it now looks like she’s all about baring her midriff.

Three times this week she’s worn a dress which shows off her abs.

On Wednesday night she arrived at the Essence 2nd Annual Black Women in music reception which was held at Playhouse Hollywood. She wore wearing yet another self-designed look.

For the second time I’d like to say “stick to your day job”, but I do love the blue and yellow as it’s a favourite colour combination of mine.

I can’t find myself to be as generous for her second look which she wore yesterday to the 14th Annual Unforgettable Evening which was held at Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel in LA.

Her body looks outstanding in this turquoise bust-sculpting top which she teamed with a high-waisted purple fishtail skirt, but it just looks like she forgot to wear a top over her bra.

She completed her look with sterling silver spike rings from the Nicky Hilton jewelry collection.

“(Australian designers) are amazing,” Eve said.

“I think Wayne Cooper is great.

“I think he makes clothes really well and they fit the bodyreally well.”

But she has been just as impressed by the fashions she has seenon everyday Australian women.

“I’ve been really fashion inspired by the girls out here,” shesaid.

“You guys are really fashion forward.

“Even just going into the stores and seeing the cuts and jacketsand shirts – I love it.”

Eve said she only became interested in designing when she wasapproached about starting a line of clothing.

“I’ve always had an interest in shopping,” she laughed.

“As far as sketching or anything like that, I had never thoughtabout it until I got approached.

“Once I got approached about a line I thought it might be kindof fun to sit with a team of designers and know that I had a handin making this shirt, or putting this thread in this jean, orpicking the buttons that hold the jeans together.”

Fetish is not available in Australia yet, but Eve hopes thatwill change soon.

“I would love to figure that out,” she said.

“Hopefully before I leave I’ll have some good connections andcontacts about the line.

“I think it would be accepted here. I think people would likeit.”

MOO Luxe Business Cards

MOO Luxe Business Cards

You might remember my quest to find my favorite business cards in pursuit of logo and branding ideas for myself. Well it happened and I’m here to show you the results.

I ordered samples of the all-new Luxe Business cards courtesy of MOO, and I could not be more pleased. MOO recently launched the new line of premium business cards, which is basically their version of a letterpress card.

The cards are printed on Mohawk Superfine paper, which happens to be triple the thickness and weight of most cards on the market. I love the slight texture on the surface of the card and the color matching is precise.

As with any MOO product, you can choose from one of their fun designs or upload your own. I uploaded my business card design that goes with my blog and the customization process was super easy. You can even choose a band of color that shows on the edges of the card and gives it that extra something. There are four choices and I chose black to match my design.

They came packaged in a white box with magnetic closures wrapped with a purple ribbon. You can’t beat the look and the quality is second-to-none. I have the feeling these will be my go-to cards from now on. Can you tell how much I love them?

Yea, Nay, Or Eh? Kristen Stewart, Runaway Fashionista

Kristen Stewart may look more comfortable in well-worn hoodies and Chuck Taylors, but that doesn’t stop the Twilight mega-star from turning up on red carpets in some very fashion-forward duds. Remember her in look 20 from Proenza Schouler’s Spring ‘10 collection at the New Moon premiere in London? Rumor has it Stewart actually selects all her own looks from a catalog supplied by her stylist, which makes this girly Doo.Ri frock—worn to the L.A. premiere of The Runaways—a surprising pick for the tomboyish actress. We think she looks fresh and age-appropriate in the bright hue, sheer detailing, and short hem. We won’t, however, comment on the hair. What do you think? Are you a fan of K-Stew’s trendy red-carpet style or would you prefer to see her go another route?

Sami Gayle Loves Miu Miu

Sami Gayle is the latest teen who is swapping Forever 21 for high-end red carpet looks.

The young actress who was first spotted on the TV series ‘Blue Bloods’ is now promoting her first movie, ‘Detachment’, in which she co-stars alongside Oscar winner Adrian Brody.

From her last two turns on the red carpet, it appears that she’s a huge fan of Miu Miu.

She was first spotted wearing the brand to the ‘Detachment’ New York premiere last week.

Her Miu Miu strapless print dress with a sweetheart neckline was teamed with a black Miu Miu clutch, open-toe ankle and Fred Leighton jewels.

Last night she wore Miu Miu again to the ‘Intruders’ New York premiere.

Sporting the same Beiber-esque hairstyle, the actress wore a head-to-toe Resort 2012 look which consisted of a mint-green cady cropped jacket with an embellished collar which she paired with dusty rose tapered pants.

Her look was accessorized with a nude bow belt with a pearl chain and pink snakeskin Miu Miu pumps.

Miu Miu has a long-standing tradition of tapping hotly tipped actresses to front the brand, so could a Fall 2012 ad campaign be in the works?

It worked for Hailee Steinfeld.

I can see Sami wearing one of those printed pants suits. Can you?

You can buy Sami’s Miu Miu Cady jacket in black-and-white from Net-A-Porter.com.

2010 Met Costume Institute Gala – Jessica Biel In Ralph Lauren

Both Jessica Biel and her beau Justin Timberlake walked the red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala last night.

Last year Jessica over did the St. Tropez, but this year she looks stunning.

Yes she does look a bit plain and at first I was dying for a colour pop, but on reflection adding colour to this look via a clutch or jewelery would have killed the look.

I adore her Ralph Lauren Collection ivory gown as it just whispers around her body and is so very flattering.

Petal covers would’ve prevented her from looking like she was smuggling raisins under her gown, but in the close up she is so beautiful I can overlook it.
